Smith To Serve on Riverbend Head Start Board

Sandy Smith, Assistant Vice President of Community Development at TheBANK of Edwardsville, was recently elected to serve on the Riverbend Head Start and Family Services Board of Directors.

“I can’t imagine a more perfect fit for our mission, which is built around the belief in the ability of everyone in communities to succeed and build a better life, and ultimately a better community,” said Gene Howell, President and CEO at Riverbend Head Start and Family Services. “In both her professional and personal life, Sandy contributes to creating stronger communities on a daily basis.” 

Smith moved to the Metro East in 2012 and began working at TheBANK of Edwardsville in the mortgage lending department. As a full-blooded Guatemalan who is fluent in Spanish, she played a lead role in TheBANK’s outreach to the local Hispanic communities that eventually led to the opening the Fairmont City Center, the first fully bilingual banking center in the St. Louis area. As the leader of TheBANK’s CRA division, Smith is committed to assisting the under-served and under-banked establish a banking relationship, which is critical to achieving empowerment and self-sufficiency. 

“I’m honored to be named a director at Riverbend Head Start and Family Services,” said Smith. “I look forward to the opportunity to help a great organization in its mission to help local families and make the community a better place.” 

Smith lives in Godfrey with her husband, Eric, and their two children.
